Hello LASA Band Family - 

Our annual Everything Day/Ice Cream Social is next Saturday, August 19. This is the first day of the year when everyone involved in the LASA Band program (Parents, Caregivers, Band and Color Guard) comes together in one place to prepare for the marching season. 

At Everything Day we will be collecting our My Fair Share payments (details below) and ensuring all band families have a chance to turn in all paperwork (details also below) and sign up for volunteer opportunities. We hope that all Parents and other Boosters can come and spend the entire morning with us! 

When: Saturday, August 19, 8:00am to Noon

Where: LASA Gym Foyer and Band Parking Lot

THE SCHEDULE

8:00am - Band rehearsal begins (outside) 

8:30 am - 10:30am - Everything Day Reception Open (inside)

At least one parent/caregiver from each family needs to come through the line to be sure you’ve “checked all the boxes”. Booster volunteers will be available to help answer questions and ensure each family is set for the season including collecting My Fair Share and clothing fees(see details below).

You'll also be able to learn about volunteer opportunities to help with our CapCity Marching Festival (Sept. 30) as well as Tailgate and Pit Crew. We really need parents support in all three areas. Please be sure to sign up while you’re here! 

Note: Once you’ve finished with Everything Day, you’re invited to bring a lawn chair and sit in the shade of the trees and enjoy watching the rehearsal followed by...

11:30 am - 12:00 noon - Ice Cream Social! 

With families coming from all over the city, we want to be intentional about building our Booster Club community since there are so few times that we’re all together during the season. We encourage everyone to take this opportunity to stick around, enjoy some ice cream served by our amazing Tailgate Crew, and please meet someone new!

DETAILS ON PAYMENTS

$600 is the cost for this year’s My Fair Share Fee (due for each marcher or color guard)

+ $45 for new shoes (Mandatory for all new marchers + all color guard)

+ $5 for new gloves (Mandatory for all new marchers, except pit + all color guard)

+ $20 for Summer Uniforms which includes one shirt/one shorts (Mandatory for all new marchers + ALL color guard)

We know this is a lot of money. For new marchers and color guard, the total cost will be $670 (or $665 if your marcher is in percussion where they don't wear gloves). These fees combined with our annual fundraiser are our main sources of funding for the LASA Band Boosters budget. 

Where does the money go? In addition to the costs of clothing, our budget covers the salaries for our color guard and percussion instructors; additional consultants who help the marching show come together; our truck driver; as well as all the meals we provide to the students every Friday night and at marching competitions.

3. AISD media release for in care someone takes a picture of your student marching.

4. Dietary Restrictions - There will also be a chance to make sure you can tell us of any dietary restrictions your student has. The Tailgate team makes sure to have alternative food at every event where they provide food.
